Account Manager


Job Description:
The Sales Representative regularly calls on specific customers assigned to a sales territory with the purpose of maintaining business and increasing sales in the welding, gases, industrial, and safety industries. This person is also responsible to identify and qualify prospective customers within their assigned territory and communicate this information to the Sales Manager. Sells safety, industrial, medical, specialty gases, welding equipment, materials, and supplies to machine shops and diverse organizations, including, but not limited to restaurants, schools, hospitals, farms, etc. Advises customer on safety supplies, welding products, abrasives, hardware and materials needed and procedures to follow to complete tasks the customer wishes to perform. Estimate quantities of gases required filling customers need. Sell abrasive products such as wheels, discs, and belts. Determines abrasive requirements for specific grinding, buffing, and polishing operations. Sells safety apparel and equipment, such as goggles, helmets, hearing protection devices, welding jackets, etc. Other key responsibilities include all aspects of customer service, sales, A/R, training, cylinder issues, disputes, problems and solving these issues to the customers satisfaction. Finally, this position must effectively communicate with all process leaders, which is crucial to the success of the Sales Representative. Direct communication with Area, Branch, Sales, and Plant Managers regularly and, when necessary, all other Managers or process leaders to facilitate customer service and satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Actively pursue and acquire, on an on-going basis, new and competitive accounts with emphasis on gases business, product supply agreements, and safety supplies.
Act as liaison between customer and company with regard to pricing, products, delivery information, payments, service, and inquires.
Maintain and upgrade selling skills and technical/product knowledge in both welding and safety equipment.
Complete and turn in sales-related paperwork, including call reports, cylinder audits, month-end reports, expense reports, mileage reports, etc., in a timely manner.
Provide market and competitor information to supervisor.
Maintain a professional and neat appearance of self and vehicle when representing the company.
Ensure customer inquiries related to billing problems, cylinder balances, order status, time of delivery, etc. are promptly and courteously handled, providing follow-up as necessary.
Lead and promote safety, attend safety meetings, and strictly observe safety rules.
Ensure any injury or accident is reported immediately and investigated promptly.
Perform mathematical calculations.
Comply with all company policies.
MARGINAL DUTIES:
Perform counter sales in a back-up capacity.
Assist with store inventory as needed.
Back up as needed and where qualified as directed by immediate supervisor or higher level management.

years experience in welding industry and safety sales.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to customer sites.
Strong understanding of products and processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to perform data entry in a computer and extract information on orders.
Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
Must be detail oriented.
Valid drivers license and personal vehicle with insurance coverage as required by the company.
Ability to use tools, routinely lift 25 - 75 lb., climb, reach and perform various physical maneuvers to perform the essential duties of job, with reasonable accommodation if necessary.
Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
If internal, must not have any written disciplinary issues in previous 6 months.
Education and / or
Experience:
Minimum - High school graduate or GED equivalent plus five (5) years industry experience.
Prefer Associates or Bachelors Degree plus three (3) years industry experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the Company.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
